A Question for Her

My perception is utterly blurred on why I allowed this to occur
For so long I walked face-to-face with life that I knew it's every facet
Parallel we move--that only left me blind to where I was lead
Having bled so extremely long, I knew it would never leave my side
Yet it did, leaving a powerful image close to my fragile heart
So strong that my tongue can taste the burning it relinquised
Now I scream your name in anguish to the stars also set afire by life
I desire to taste your breath again, yet all that caresses my lips are tears
And I watch as they fall to the very soil where your imperfections originated
I've stated my case to God already aware of the answer
So I'm left here in the dark to think solely of you
And I dance alone in a field where lovers freely frolick
It is I who picks the flower and turns to give it to...
Only death awaits it
So I keep my focus on the heavens and your eyes--which may be the same
And I wonder--Will you ever look into these stars and think of me?
