A poet who puts the art back into music artist. daedalus perihelion
(pronounced dah-duh-luss pair-uh-hee-lee-on) is such an artist. Coming out
of the midwest (Kansas to be exact), he brings a unique blend and challenge to
the rest of the industry.dp began his career in 1999 under the name
Cloroxthehybrid. Seeing an evident decline in the future of rap music, he
decided to take a step into the unknown world of mics and em-ceeing.
After writing some of his earlier works (Insurrectionary Epoch, Rage,
Sugar Rush, etc.), Clorox began doing shows on the local scene. The early
part of this ministry was hard, involving horrible performances and many
mistakes, but through time, Cloroxthehybrid found that was was truly
Daedalus trying to reach a perihelion in his life.
Since then, daedalus
perihelion has continued to write, produce, and perform. Although definately
hiphop in nature, d.p. has evolved into a hiphop artist with a variety of
musical influence that reflect in the music. Over the past
couple of years, d.p. has had many doors open up including performing with
Illustrate at Cornerstone Festival and with Dirt representing Shadow of the
Locust. He has also opened for national acts such as Tunnel Rats and GRITS.
Currently, d.p. is working on his debut CD entitled "The Whiggin Out LP".
The CD (though having many "Divine Setbacks") is scheduled for a June 2002
release. It features a unique blend of hiphop and guest appearances by
Ichabod I Am, Illustrate, Doc, Index, and the dialektable.
More recently, daedalus perihelion was also
priviledged to begin working on other projects. The first is called Sectionate,
a crew of northeast Kansas em-cees banding together in the name of Christ and
hiphop. It currently features the talents of d.p., Apostle the Soul Shepherd,
Ichabod I Am, GoldenOne, and Index. Being a collective of em-cees dedicated
to the fellowship, we're always looking for more members and plan on having some
new additions very soon. The second is a live hiphop band still unnamed,
featuring vocals by dp and Ichabod I Am. Although in the infant stages, this
band promises to be an amazing addition to the music industry. Focusing
more on the poetics and intellectuality of hiphop than what most focus on.
God willing, daedalus perihelion will continue to make strides in this
ministry until he reaches the his calling (whatever that is). In the
